Seafair 2027: dates, getting there and where to stay

Seafair at a glance

Seafair is Seattle's summer festival series, and Seafair Weekend Festival is its centerpiece: hydroplane boat racing, the Boeing Seafair Air Show and a festival at Genesee Park on Lake Washington. In December 2025, Seafair announced that the U.S. Navy Blue Angels would return for back-to-back years:

• 2026: Friday, July 31 to Sunday, August 2, 2026 (already held).
• 2027: Friday, August 6 to Sunday, August 8, 2027.

The Blue Angels' own 2027 show schedule lists "Seattle, WA, Boeing Seafair Air Show" on August 7–8, 2027. Ticketing, gate times and the full line-up are published on seafair.org closer to the date. Note that weather can change plans: Seafair's site notes that a 2026 Saturday Blue Angels performance was cancelled because of high winds.

What happens at Seafair Weekend

According to Seafair, the weekend combines:

• The Apollo Mechanical Cup hydroplane races on Lake Washington.
• The Boeing Seafair Air Show, headlined by the Blue Angels.
• Live music, food and beverage vendors and beer gardens with lake views.
• Family activities across Genesee Park.
• Premium viewing areas such as the Captain's Club and The Deck.

Seafair says the flight box uses the same configuration as 2025, which keeps the I-90 bridge and Seward Park fully open during the show.

Getting there from downtown

Genesee Park is in southeast Seattle on the western shore of Lake Washington, several miles from downtown, so plan your trip out:

• Link light rail: the 1 Line runs south from Westlake Station (about 7 minutes' walk from our building) through the Rainier Valley. Check Seafair's site for its recommended stations and shuttles for 2027.
• Ride-hail or taxi: expect road closures and heavy traffic near the park on show days; Seafair publishes closures and drop-off points.
• Driving: parking near the park is limited. If you drive to Seattle, our building has garage space for compact cars on request (SUVs do not fit); see downtown parking.

Make a weekend of it downtown

Seafair Weekend days are long, so many visitors split their time between the lake and the city:

• Pike Place Market, about a 15-minute walk from us; see our walking guide.
• A Mariners game at T-Mobile Park, if the team is at home that weekend; see game weekends.
• The waterfront and ferries, about a 20-minute walk to Colman Dock.

Where to stay for Seafair

Downtown Seattle gives you restaurants, transit and sights on foot after a day at the lake. Our three 2-bedroom apartments are in one downtown building at 1400 Hubbell Place:

• The Top-Floor 2BR: sleeps 5, skyline views, portable air conditioning for summer evenings.
• The Lumière 2BR: sleeps 6, round table that seats four.
• The Two-Bath 2BR: sleeps 6, two full bathrooms.

Every apartment has a full kitchen for packing picnic lunches, and an in-unit washer & dryer. Each is professionally cleaned after every stay.

Planning tips

• Check the official schedule. Practice days, gate times and race heats are posted on seafair.org.
• Bring sun protection and layers. The lakefront can be hot in the afternoon and cool by evening.
• Plan for crowds. Leave extra time to get to and from Genesee Park.
• Watch for other events. Seafair runs other events in July, and August weekends are busy downtown; our events calendar links to official schedules.
