★ 4.91 · 160 reviewsStaying near the First Hill hospitals
Seattle's First Hill neighborhood, just uphill from downtown, is home to Virginia Mason Medical Center (1100 9th Ave), Swedish First Hill (747 Broadway) and Harborview Medical Center (325 9th Ave). Our building at 1400 Hubbell Place is about 0.2 miles from Virginia Mason, 0.5 miles from Swedish First Hill and 0.7 miles from Harborview in a straight line, roughly a 5, 10 and 20 minute walk. First Hill is uphill, so allow longer.

Three hospitals, one hill
First Hill earned the nickname "Pill Hill" because so many hospitals cluster there. Three of the biggest are within about three quarters of a mile of our building, by straight-line distances measured from OpenStreetMap coordinates:
- Virginia Mason Medical Center, 1100 9th Ave, Seattle 98101. About 0.2 miles from us, roughly a 5-minute walk.
- Swedish First Hill, 747 Broadway, Seattle 98122. About 0.5 miles, roughly a 10-minute walk.
- Harborview Medical Center, 325 9th Ave, Seattle 98104. About 0.7 miles, roughly a 20-minute walk. Harborview is owned by King County with care provided by UW Medicine.
Walk times are our estimates (straight line × 1.25 at 3 mph, rounded). First Hill rises steeply from downtown, so the walk up takes longer than the walk back, and a patient after a procedure should not plan to walk at all.
Getting up the hill without a car
- RapidRide G Line. Virginia Mason's directions page notes that King County Metro's RapidRide G Line serves First Hill along Spring and Seneca streets, connecting downtown, First Hill and Madison Valley.
- Ride-hail or taxi. For appointment days, a short ride from the building's entrance is often easiest.
- Driving. Each hospital has its own patient parking; check its directions page. Our building has garage parking for compact cars on request (SUVs do not fit). See our parking guide.

Planning a hospital stay
- Confirm your campus. Large systems run clinics in several buildings; check the address on your appointment letter.
- Allow for changes. Surgery dates move. Read our cancellation policy before booking: full refund 30+ days before arrival, 50% at 14–29 days, none under 14 days.
- Ask about reimbursement. Some insurers and charities help with lodging; your hospital's social work team can advise.
- Book longer if needed. For stays of a week or more, see weekly and monthly stays or ask us for a quote.
Coming in by air? Link light rail runs direct from Sea-Tac to Westlake Station, about 7 minutes' walk from our building; see the airport guide. For treatment at Fred Hutch or UW Medical Center–Montlake, read Staying near Fred Hutch and UW Medicine. Our medical stays page has a distance table and guest reviews.
